Over 50 years of professional experience in universities and industry research labs, working mainly in the areas of cyber crime and conflict, and information warfare and security. Author of Information Warfare and Security (1999) and Cryptography and Data Security (1982), and over 200 other publications; co-editor of Internet Besieged (1998). Leadership positions held include President of the International Association for Cryptologic Research; Director of the Georgetown Institute for Information Assurance, Chair of the Computer Science Department, and Chair of the Computing and Network Task Force at Georgetown University; Chair of the International Cryptography Institute; and Chair of the National Research Council Forum on Rights and Responsibilities of Participants in Networked Communities.
