Chief Information Security Officer

I am currently the Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Texas System. In this position I direct activities to strengthen the security posture of 8 higher education and 6 healthcare/research institutions across the state of Texas. I also brief the Board of Regents quarterly and recommend initiatives that will provide system-wide benefit. I've never been told by a hiring manager to "just do what the last guy did and you'll be fine." Hired by F500 companies, a research university, and a non-profit to revitalize their IT organizations and lead them through major, transformational initiatives such as mergers and ERP implementations. Hallmarks of my approach include building effective relationships and transparent decision-making processes with stakeholders across an organization. I develop organizations that fuse strong technologists, project managers, and support professionals to deliver initiatives on time, within budget, and with successful outcomes as judged by end users and senior management.
