Joan D. Pepin, Founder and CEO of stealth-mode security company ZeroWall.io is previously a two-time CSO at Unicorn Security SaaS companies. She was a CEO Direct Report at both Sumo Logic and Auth0, giving her a front-row-seat to 8 rounds of funding across two unicorns. In between, she did a successful tour of duty at Nike as BISO for their $10B Consumer Digital Business Unit. She’s an Inventor, Public Speaker, Proven Business Leader, and Advocate. She brings over 20 years of experience to her role as Founder and CEO, with a career that has spanned a wide variety of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, defense, and Managed Service Providers. As CSO at Auth0, Joan was responsible for the holistic security and compliance of Auth0's platform, products, corporate environment, and people. Also, while at Auth0, and in tandem with her CSO role, Joan served as VP of Operations and was responsible for managing Cloud Infrastructure Operations and re-launching and significantly growing the revenue margins of Auth0’s Private SaaS product line. Previously, Joan served as Business Information Security Officer (BISO) at Nike, Inc., where she focused on working with the business unit to align their rapid growth and intense scale with Corporate Information Security strategy and policies. Her long tenure in the security industry also includes being Sumo Logic's eleventh employee. As CISO and VP of Security, she established a holistic and cutting-edge set of Cloud Security Best Practices and Controls and led the company to be the most secure and trusted log management platform available. She has also held positions at the Guardent/Verisign/Secureworks organization. She invented several core correlation and anomaly-detection technologies and established key initiatives around policy management, security metrics, and incident response. She holds a patent for developing a methodology to assess whether a communication contains an attack. Joan is a well-recognized thought leader and has spoken at major events, such as RSA, WhiteHat Security Summit, and Forrester Security Summit; and is frequently called upon for her expertise and commentary in Cloud Security and Compliance in large-scale and DevOps/CI environments. In addition to disrupting enterprise security and advising interesting and promising startups, she also serves on the board of directors and as Treasurer of Bradley Angle- a non-profit domestic violence shelter and advocacy organization.
