Karen Rivera has over 10 years of Information Technology experience, with 7 years focused on information security. Rivera has led and assisted all key initiatives for the Federal Agencies she has served. Her experiences cover from leading and working hands-on with Security & Privacy efforts including but not limited to Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), Vulnerability Management, Security Authorization, Program Management, and Training efforts. Project Management Professional (PMP) and CMMI 1.2 certified, Karen Rivera tackles the diverse array of Federal Agencies requirements with disciplined efficiency. Her management efforts empower teams, consistently driving improvements in Federal Agencies’ Information Security Programs, while simultaneously achieving on schedule, under budget service delivery. Karen Rivera maintains her field knowledge by being a member of the Project Management Institute (Washington DC Chapter), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and other reputable information security organizations. She absorbs and effectively applies new mandates and guidance from the Office of Management Budget and NIST Special Publications/Federal Information Processing Standards, incorporating it into current practice to ensure all security objectives are covered for her clients’ information systems. Karen was at the top of her Network and System Security Educational Program and she is currently enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Cyber Security for UMUC.
